Carbon dioxide, or CO2, is a very common, naturally occurring molecule that contains two oxygen atoms and one carbon atom. In everyday conditions on Earth, carbon dioxide is a commonly occurring gas that is all around us. It is colorless, odorless, is naturally present in Earth's atmosphere and is an important part of Earth's carbon cycle. All humans and animals exhale carbon dioxide when they breathe, and plants absorb it during a process called photosynthesis in order to grow. - An increases in atmospheric CO2 associated with human activities can pose problems
Weather is what the forecasters on the TV news predict each day. They tell people about the temperature, cloudiness, humidity, and whether a storm is likely in the next few days. That's weather! It is the mix of events that happens each day in our atmosphere.
Whereas weather refers to short-term changes in the atmosphere, climate describes what the weather is like over a long period of time in a specific area. Different regions can have different climates. To describe the climate of a place, we might say what the temperatures are like during different seasons, how windy it usually is, or how much rain or snow typically falls.
When scientists talk about climate, they're often look at averages of precipitation, temperature, humidity, sunshine, wind, and other measures of weather that occur over a long period in a particular place. In some instances, they might look at these averages over 30 years and more.
When car companies develop more efficient engines, and cars with a more aerodynamic silhouette, a reduction in CO2 emissions is accomplished. The same happens when you drive with correctly inflated tires, switch your engine off when you’re not driving, and follow the speed limit; you are reducing your CO2 emissions (or footprint). There are many more ways you can reduce your CO2 footprint: Just set your thermostat in your house the most efficient way and consider solar panels in certain parts of the country.
What ever can't be reduced can be compensated. For example: You are driving a car with a good gas-millage, you save gas by not starting your engine until you're ready to go, your tires are always properly inflated, you have done everything possible in CO2 reduction. The remaining CO2 emissions can be compensated by supporting renewable energy projects anywhere in the world.
When a car’s CO2 emissions are reduced, e.g. with a more efficient engine, an aerodynamic silhouette, correctly inflated tires, etc., and the remaining CO2 emissions are compensated/offset by supporting renewable energy projects anywhere in the world, CO2 neutrality will be accomplished.
Act Now USA, LLC is investing your contribution in such projects.
The Gold Standard Foundation (GSF) located in Geneva, Switzerland, is the standard and certification body that works to ensure every Dollar of climate and development funding goes as far as it can. For each ton of CO2 compensated, a Gold Standard Certificate is issued. Act Now USA, LLC is only investing in Gold Standard Projects.
